A blog to help you plan your Wedding in Thailand.

Updated: Apr 1, 2023

« Hello ! I'm Nina, a Wedding Photographer based in Bangkok»

I'm going to share the best tips from my experience, on how to plan a Destination Wedding in Thailand.

Born in Thailand and raised in France, my life has always been a mix of Western and Asian culture. I truly believe travel makes your heart grow, and makes your mind wider. In 2016, after 10 years working as a camera assistant on Paris' fashion and film sets, I craved a bit more independence. Around that time, my italian friends were getting married in India, and asked me to photograph their journey... This life changing experience gave me a passion for storytelling; for photographing people's journey into a new world, a world they're building for themselves out of love and trust.

For the last 8 years, I've been photographing weddings in France, Italy, England, India, Thailand and Spain; and I've collected a pretty good list of wedding planning tips ! But most importantly, my travels led me back here to Thailand.. where we finally got married in October 2022 !

That's me and Matt right after our ceremony in Chiangmai, with our friends and family, happy as can be !

As a bride myself, I've been navigating the Thai "wedding world" both as a local and as a foreigner, and been through every difficulty of having a Destination Wedding in Thailand!

International weddings comes in e-ve-ry shape and color!

Western weddings have certain norms and conventions : it's usually a 45min ceremony (preferably on a nice shaded lawn), followed by a cocktail, a diner and a party. If this is what you're expecting, be sure to let your planner know ! Weddings in Thailand vary greatly in style depending on your wedding vendors: Thai traditional, Thai modern, Beach wedding, Western/Chinese/Indian wedding, Catholic/Muslim/Jewish weddings, and a variety of combinations. Wedding vendors usually specialise within a market or two (and a vast majority does not speak english ; that's why i strongly recommend hiring a good wedding planner who understands and works within your vision).

You're in the right place.

I'll be sharing why Thailand is the perfect destination for your dream wedding, When is the best time of the year to get married, my favourite wedding venues in Thailand (and SE Asia), the pros and cons of Having a Beach Wedding, the benefits of hiring local vendors... and many useful tips for you and your guests to have a extraordinary destination wedding in Thailand!

From one tropic to another,

Nina
